March 9, 2010 There is a storm raging outside. Thunder is booming and lightning is flashing and a young girl is crying in the night. To comfort her, a story is begun. This story tells the tale of two young star-crossed lovers, one a peasant and one a wealthy man. It is the story that is told throughout the musical of Once on this Island, which was written by Lynne Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. It is also the musical that will be put on at Saint Edmond. Different from anything St. Edmond has done, it offers a bit of the fanciful and mystical. The story centers around a star-crossed‚ love and takes place on a Caribbean island.
