Frontier Days 2010

The first weekend in June brings people together like no other event in Fort Dodge and this year it will take place again for the 36th year with the 2010 Frontier Days.  On June 4th and 5th the events will take place, bring together thousands from many counties and states.  This year, all of the Frontier Days events and activities will be included in your Frontier Days 2010 button, for just $5.00.      





This year’s event kicks off with the "Frontier Days Pageants" on Thursday, June 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crossroads Mall.   The three pageants are:  "Little Ms. and Mr. Frontier Days"  the Miss Frontier Days 2010 – ages 15 to 21, and the Senior Ms. and Mr.  Frontier Days ages 65 and older. 





On Saturday at 10 am it s the Frontier Days Parade starting  of a day packed full of activites.  Come see what this year’s parade has to offer as excitement takes place down Central Ave.    This year’s parade is sponsored by Heartland Communications.


 


Entertainment is looking really good for Frontier Days this year. Headlining this year’s Friday night entertainment will be Michael Martin Murphey who will perform two shows – one at 7 p.m. and at 10:30 p.m.  Murphey will perform in the Opera House, with seating on a first come first seated.  Murphey has six gold records and has sung smash hits "Wildfire", "Carolina in the Pines", "What’s Forever For", "A Long Line of Love", Geronimo’s Cadillac" and "Cowboy Logic". 





Opening for Michael Martin Murphy on Friday night will be "American Pie" a duo who brings 50’s and 60’s country and rock to life with many high praise reviews.    Outside under the Big Top on Friday night will be "3 D IN Your Face" a metal tribute band with light show, playing from 7-11p.m.  Revisit the 80’s with heavy metal music and the big hair that the 80’s is famous for. 





Saturday Night under the Big Top "Standing Hampton" will be playing from 7-11 p.m.  This group will bring 70’s and 80’s Power Pop Rock to the stage under the stars.





Inside the Opera House on Saturday Night will be "Bobby Awe and the Country Awestars" which includes Dale Eichor of KWMT.   Opening for this band will be KWMT’s Von Ketelsen.








On the Family Stage during Saturday afternoon you will find "Pockets Full of Fun" performing.  Laird is a long time educator turned puppeteer, ventriloquist, and brings a bit of magic for the kids to enjoy.  





Dr. Kohl will perform his "Magic" on stage at 2 pm and 4 pm on Saturday in the Opera House.  Watch for the flying doves and remember…. It’s magic!!!





Several of our local youth performance groups will be performing throughout Saturday afternoon.  The United All Stars will perform in the Fort Museum Stockade from 1:30 to 2:30.   Hollingsworth Dance Studio will be performing in the Opera House.





Inflatables are always a favorite activity for children.  This year Frontier Days will provide this entertainment free with their Frontier Days button.  Kids of all ages will have fun with a 72 foot inflatable obstacle course and three other fun-filled inflatables.





  Car buffs will have fun wandering around the Frontier Days Car Show.   The car show will take place on Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm.  It is open to all types of cars, pick ups, street rods and more.
