Harmony Brigade Barbershop

March 3, 2011
Twist and Shout
Song of a Lifetime, this year’s Harmony Brigade Barbershop Chorus show theme, accurately describes the variety of songs that will be performed by the chorus.

Beginning with the “Somebody Stole My Gal” and “I’m Sitting on Top of the World” from the early part of the 20th century, the song selections proceed through the rest of the 20th century. Familiar songs will include a medley of Disney songs, “I Believe”, “What a Wonderful World”, a medley of Beach Boys songs, “Cabaret”, “Cherish”, “God Bless the U.S.A.”, and songs from three chapter quartets.

The second half of the show will feature two guest quartets. VOCE, 2010 International Quartet finalists, “modernize a capella music in a hip, edgy, sophisticated manner. They spread their wings and stretch a capella stereotypes performing pop, jazz, doo-wop, cabaret, Broadway, madrigal and barbershop”. The Choir Boys, 2010 Central States District finalists, from Dubuque, were 2010 Spring Convention “Audience Favorite Contest” winners for MOST ENTERTAINING SONG.

Showtimes are 2:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M., Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Iowa Central Decker Auditorium. Advance tickets can be purchased at Hy Vee in Fort Dodge or by mail by sending a check and self-addressed envelope to Harmony Brigade, PO Box 302, Fort Dodge, Iowa 50501. Advanced purchase prices are $10.00 for adults and $4.00 for students. Tickets will also be available at the door. At the door prices will be $12.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.

This 64th Annual Barbershop Show promises to entertain all age groups.
